Shabby Chic White

Every summer I get turned on by all white shabby chic and find myself doing
little things to make my home more shabby chic white.  This week with the arrival
of my new candle from H and M home, I took on my master bath.

I had to borrow these fragile white roses from my neighbor.

These roses are beautifully shabby chic but fall apart easily.

Here it is full bloom in my bath.

This is the result of my small project this week. I got help from Jade of
White and Shabby finding the Peace candle. (All the way from Bavaria) She
sent me a comment, when I asked about the candle, saying where she purchased hers.

This all white shabby chic project in my master has got a long way to go. I'll share
if I make anymore progress.

This is a previous summer project in a guest bedroom. Balloon shades
are from Rachel Ashwell's Shabby Chic line at Target.

Another all white summer project was this itty bitty chandelier hung in my
laundry room.

Spring and Summer Tablescapes

These are some suggestions for spring/summer tablescapes
from different retailers. I have a crush on blue and
white this season and I am into this from Horchow
The plates and bowl are of melamine and perfect for
summer dining.

This beautiful setting for a red and white summer is from
Juliska. Some of this is not being made by Juliska anymore,
but I found the red mugs on ebay.

I found this setting in a House Beautiful magazine this spring (April issue). It is designed by
Alessandra Branca. If I was doing this in my home I would want the whole thing
including the wallpaper and when the event was over I would leave up the wallpaper.

This is a close-up of the previous tablescape and my absolute favorite this year.
It is all designer and the Horchow blue and white
in the top photo is probably more affordable.

I don't know where I found this image. It's been so long. This has always been my favorite
for an elegant dinner party. It looks like it is affordable to put together with a little help from the garden
and a stop at Home Goods.

This is Bianca dinnerware from Neiman Marcus. It's on sale for $115 for a 16 piece
set. The little birdie napkin holders are four for $120.
Close-up of birdie. Isn't it cute?

As far as I know this is available now
at Juliska. It's $39.00 for the mug.
Other pieces are available.

Parisian Themed Mother's Day Celebration

from Pinterest
Mother's Day was Parisian themed this year.
Napkin ring
My daughter hosted it for Mother's and daughters without Mother's.

Eiffel tower from Home Goods (without bling-my daughter added the
sparkle). Candle holders from Hobby Lobby.

Crown votives from Michael's

Eiffel tower (from Rite-Aid) reflected in mirror on buffet.

Chocolate covered strawberries

The best deviled eggs I have ever had. Secret ingredient-horse radish.

I hope you had a happy Mother's Day.

One of the sweet multi-colored, mini cross braclets that were
were given as gifts to the lovely ladies that attended the brunch.
They are from Beachhcomber's etsy shop.

Sherman Gardens

I am posting today from the Sherman Library and Gardens in
Corona Del Mar, California. I have been here before but
today I took photos of some different but extraordinary flowers
and plants. Enjoy.

This is a Desert Orchid

So many  beautiful exotic plants. I was moving too fast to get the names of
the flowers and plants. It was 90 degrees there today. I couldn't
believe the heat, because I was only blocks
from the beach.

This had a sign on it that said simply "Chocolate Scented Orchids". I never
heard of a such a thing. The scent wasn't clear to me because of all the
other interrupting scents of the plants nearby.

This was so pretty to me. I thought it looked like a painting.

This is the "Diana Princess of Wales" rose.

"Plum Crazy" rose.

"Disneyland" rose

Another "Desert Orchid"

These seemed so sweet and perfect. I had to take this shot.

In the atrium. It was 20 degrees hotter and very steamy in the atrium.

Looking from the cafe to the atrium.

I try to catch a shot of bees when I can.

Do you see the turtles basking in the background?

The Sherman Library and Gardens is on Pacific
Coast Highway in Corona Del Mar south of
Newport Beach. There is free parking and an
entry fee of $3.00 for each adult.
